From one-room heating to whole-home comfort

Situation:

Our client in Lincoln has put a lot of love into making their house feel like home. But over time, they started noticing how uneven the heating was throughout the space. The large ceiling-mounted air conditioning unit in the dining area just wasn’t cutting it. As we all know, heat is lazy—it doesn’t like to travel far—and that meant the lounge, where they liked to relax, stayed chilly on cooler days. They found themselves reaching for a blanket more often than they’d care to admit. With an open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area that flows into a long hallway leading to the bedrooms, they were keen to find a heating solution that could keep the whole house consistently warm while also saying goodbye to the small, inefficient panel heaters once and for all. Approach:

After exploring a few different heating options, our client decided that radiators were the right fit for their home. Radiators offer a gentle, radiant warmth that spreads evenly throughout the space, and with the added benefit of their SmartOne Controller, they can easily override the schedule to suit Canterbury’s famously changeable weather. It was a cost-effective choice for a retrofit and one we highly recommended to help them achieve the comfort they were after. Since they previously had panel heaters on the walls, the switch to radiators didn’t disrupt the look or feel of the home. Each radiator, installed in the kitchen, office, dining, and lounge, was carefully positioned to complement the home’s heat load requirements and ensure consistent warmth where it was needed most.

Outcome:

Central Heating New Zealand supplied and installed Korado Universal Radiators with clip-on decorative panels, chosen for their flexible installation options and 8-port design that makes fitting them into tricky spaces a breeze. The system is powered by our reliable and efficient 16kW Chofu Air-to-Water heat pump, which also happens to be a great, environmentally friendly choice. Everything is centrally controlled by our SmartOne Controller, a smart thermostat designed by Central Heating New Zealand that offers intuitive heating programmes and gives the client full control with just a swipe of a finger. With this setup, our client now enjoys a home free of cold spots, the blankets have officially gone into retirement, and they can relax in total comfort. “We love our new radiator central heating.
